Many of the religious sites in Cusco are ostentatious displays of wealth. At the convent of St. Catherine of Siena, there are indeed beautiful things to see, but the more powerful and evocative take-away from a visit is the rejection of worldly living in favor...More

This was very interesting, had explanations in both english and spanish, and was unique. It showed how the nuns lived, when they came to this cloistered community, the work they did, etc. It was one of my favorite museums in Cusco.

You need a guide, and one was provided. Her description of the various buildings we visited helped to bring the history of this convent to life. The interior garden is beautifully kept, as are all of the cells of the nuns. A must-see in Cusco.
