I found nothing particularly interesting about Avenida El Sol. It is a very busy thoroughfare with lots of pedestrian traffic. Several nice stores and the Peruvian Judicial Building that is pretty impressive. It's the shortest and easiest way to get to the Santo Domingo Cathedral.

This avenue leads to Plaza Armas. The Convent of Santo Domingo is just off of this avenue. There are lots of shops and pharmacies here.

If you're in Cusco you'll walk the Avenida el sol. Easy walk, flat land Getting use to the altitude is the only challenge Nice sightseeing art work and shops

Felt to me like this is their version of Oxford Street, mostly shops with solid traffic congestion all day. It's the best spot for banks (ATMs), Tourist Offices (including the official one), electronics stores and cellphone stores.
