Very interesting site. I recommend getting a guide who can tell everything...we were lucky enough to have a great guide.

While there is not much to do, this is definitely a site to see and to take some good photos. I stopped here as part of a day trip that also stopped at Moray.

I loved visiting Maras. So beautiful and it is still the wet season. The dry season, in June and July, would be be even more beautiful. Absolutely fascinating how it works and tasting the water. Brought 3, 1 kg bags of salt for 10 sol, so cheap! There is different salt for different purposes. A must to see, surrounded by... More

If you have to pick only a few sites for your visit, this one should belong to your program. Impressive salt production site like I have never seen before. Compared to Moray --> here you should allocate your time. Just impressive.

Never been to a salt mine. Interesting to see. Surprised to feel and taste the spring water . A decent hike down but worth it

A sort of cooperative salt mine. Fantastic views as you make your way there by vehicle. The drive there is an adventure. Make sure the driver stops above the mine to see the scale of the place. Don't step into the ponds. Got one shoe salted!

To get down to the Salinas one has to navigate a single lane gravel road with no guard rails. Our driver had no problem, but we declined his offer for a photo stop near the top that would have had us teetering at the top of a cliff. No photo is worth that kind of terror for anyone afraid of... More

Visited the Maras salt mines during our tour through the Sacred Valley. Really enjoyed it, whish I had a litte more time there. Fascaniting system of little channels and pools for harvesting salt. Part of the mines were designed by the Incas. Great to walk around and taking pictues.

If you go to Moray, you will couple this to the day. And you will find one more Inca innovation that will amaze you. Although developed by the Inca, it is still functioning today for salt procurement/mining.
