The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI holds the most representative art collection in Peru, tracing 3,000 years of history from the earliest Andean civilizations until modern times. Known as the Palacio de la Exposición, the building that is now home to the museum is located at the entrance to the Lima's historic center and is one of the earliest and most important works built using the new technique of cast-iron construction. On the second floor you will find 34 recently renewed galleries with a selection of the most important works of our collection. MALI has an active program of temporary exhibitions throughout the year which covers the highlights of local and international art. The temporary exhibition galleries, as well as the Café MALI, store, auditorium, library and education area, are located on the first floor. ***Free admission every Thursday from 3:00 P.M.***

We took a quick look at this museum, as we were short on time, but found ourselves wishing we had more time to do it justice. We were fascinated by a wonderful Nazca exhibition, and couldn't tear ourselves away! So glad we managed to see...More

We visited on a national holiday and were forced into a group tour of the museum. We are big museum goers and left the tour frustrated. We really wanted to take our time and visit areas of interest. It seemed odd to be forced into...More

This is such a lovely art museum. I am not very passionate about art, but this was a beautiful place to visit. I imagine that art-lovers would be over the moon about this museum. Please note, it does not seem like a very child-friendly museum.

Very interesting collection of art in a beautifuol building. We got there a bit late but were let in for a discounted rate and saw as much as we could. I wish we had had more time.

Our guide took us here to explain some of the features of pre-Columbian and Inca culture. We were very impressed by the pottery, seeing how the different cultures, including the Incas, learnt from one another in producing artefacts. Our guide then interpreted for us the...More

If you are interested in post-Colombian Peruvian art and pre-Colombian artifacts this museum will be for you. Their pre-Colombian collection has some amazing pieces. However it lacks the depth of the Larco Museum's collection. It will be of less interest to the general art museum...More
