Obviously, Machu Picchu needs to be taken in as a whole. There are a few things not to miss and the Temple of the Sun is one of them. Make sure to see it while you explore the site. A guide is helpful for MP...More

It's hard to rate individual parts of MP on their own, but the Temple of the Sun is one of the more spectacular buildings. As with other parts of MP, the stone work is incredible.

Completed the Inca Trail hike, reaching the Sun Gate at 6.30am. Great views of the valley but Machu Pichu was largely covered in cloud. I'm not sure I'd bother with the walk up to the Sun Gate.

Machu Picchu contains several temples, of which this is one. You'll visit them all while you're there. It is worth having a guide as then the solstice and sun based construction and purpose will be explained to you. All of Machu Picchu is excellent.

There are several temples within the main site of Machu Picchu and all are worth visiting. The construction on this is particular to the winter solstice and so therefore particularly stunning in construction.

Interesting architecture and get a guide who can explain the various buildings. Enjoy the view, so you may end up spending a few more hours. Leave early in the morning.
