Located west of the main square, this sacred temple is known for its huge walls and three trapezoidal-shaped windows through which the sun's rays would pass illuminating the "Sacred Plaza" beyond.

Wonderful area of Machu Picchu, good for taking photos. Amazing history and engineering involved in the creation... Very helpful to have a guide explain many aspects to this site.

Another of the great buildings in the Machu Picchu area, makes one wonder again at their ability to move these huge stones and get them so perfectly fitted in place. It helps having a guide to make sure you see all these sites.

This is one of the many examples with the Machu Picchu site where you can see the detail and accuracy of the dry stone construction. Each stone cut with incredible accuracy, with a perfect fit.

This just demonstrates the detail that the Inca went to when building this incredible Citadel. The jointing and positioning of windows were so important to the Inca.
