Machu Picchu is one of these places we've all heard about or seen everywhere. Reality is much better. It's an impressive fortress, in the middle of the Andes. I won't discover anything you might know. It's totally worth. And if you can, the best way to visit it is by doing the Inca Trail. The satisfaction you feel when you reach it has no words to describe it.
Of course, once you reach it you'll look to take the typical photo, with the fortress and the Wayna Picchu on the back.
As expected, it's full of people.

I thank Terra Quechua Peru for the service provided, thanks to it, my experience in Machu Picchu were phenomenal, which I can recommend to all those people who love adventure. The Andes Mountains are distributed there. As I like natural landscapes, this time I will introduce you to the Andes Mountains, a beautiful area full of towering peaks and deep valleys. It is rich in wildlife and rare plants. Walking through this region not only allows visitors to see the incredible views that the Andean valleys have to offer, but also allows them to interact with and learn from the locals in the small villages along the way. Machu Picchu should be on every traveler's bucket list for its beautiful views, history and incredible treks.

Machu Picchu is amazing and like many, we came to Peru to see this site. That said, we left Peru understanding that Peru is an amazing country with many wonderful things to see and do. Machu Picchu is indeed amazing. To walk there and think about the civilization that thrived there is an amazing experience. We are fortunate to have gone.

It rained a bit but that added to the trip. All my life I’ve wanted to come and here I am, worth every step of the climb and more it’s spell binding. Words can’t describe the aura of this place. Life offers so many things, but this has to be my best yet!

Peru is the Worst place for Tourism right now. The Govt controls everything with Ridiculous Covid rules. As a Doctor, I tried to educate them, but they continue with wearing 2 masks & face Shields on trains. The ignorance helps you understand better why the Incans perished. The buses that run from Aguas to Machu Piccu, the conductor yells at you to put 2 mask on! I said No, I was standing in line with no mask around these people for 30 minutes, a mask will do nothing now & 2 mask is just stupidity! There is an older Peruvian man at the entrance gate that tries to scam you that you Must have a guide. He is a liar, after my tour I called him out on his scam.

My husband and I just went to Machu Picchu. We booked our full day trip from Cusco with Machu Picchu Terra travel agency and are very happy with their service. Train ride was good and no complaints for bus ride to main gate. Everything went well and we had good time. Our English speaking private tour guide Nilo was awesome, friendly and professional.

I am a 76 year old and have been invited to hike the Classic Inca 4 day trek to Machu Picchu. I walk daily but do get winded on hills. Day 2 is a 9 hour hike with 3600 feet elevation gain, I think. I just want to make a wise decision and not be in pain the whole time. thank you, Susan

Hello!
It's going to be your call of course ... but having said that ... the trail itself is fairly mild. The altitude is ranging from 8000 to 12000 feet - you'll definitely feel it, but for the most people it's just matter of spending a few days gradually accommodating. A few days in Cusco starting with full rest to gradually walking around is sufficient for most people. Cusco is located higher than Machu Picchu, so if you can walk around the city after a few days, the trail will be not worse.
The weather is very nice for trekking, it's cool and humid, so your main problem is going to be stay dry but you don't need to worry about overheating. Also, make sure you travel really light. The less you carry the better.
The trail is non technical, so you don't need any particular skills or techniques.
Finally, it stays close to the populated areas, so you can get help if needed. And the locals do care and help.
There are definitely a lot of seniors who make it, so it is possible. It's more about your priorities. I'd say if you really want to do it and minimize risks - book a few extra days gradually increasing altitude. At the end of the day this is the factor in your control to minimize the risks.
Good luck!

Salve a tutti!

Hi - I’ve read numerous articles about maximum backpack sizes which are either listed as dimensions or volume. Mine is 10 litres, half the maximum size, but exceeds the 40cm maximum height.
Which takes priority, volume or dimensions?
Thanks

They aren't checking that closely. However, the bus up there is small and some of the areas are narrow. Ensure your equipment is not going to encroach on other people or damage the site if it's too big.

Ciao,
