The hike up is a little bit of a challenge due to the elevation. I have a fear of heights/exposure and was fine for the most part. It was really only once on top when I moved to the very corner edge that I got that funny feeling. The trail is steep but it is not a sheer drop off... More

Short but intense uphill climb. At the top, the views are amazing! Warming, guards will stop your climb by 1600, so go early!

When I first went to Ollanta I realized that was some ruins right up in the cliff of a mountain which surrounded the city and I was curious about to get in there. So, when I came back to spend the night I tried to find a way to top. I was walking through the small streets when suddenly I... More

You climb quickly out of the town and onto the steep hillside - the views are wonderful. This is a free site, so the footpaths are a title rough in places. And the question is always - Why? What was this for? Lots of theories, but just enjoy!

Walked up here on second day in Ollantaytambo. Nice to sit up here and relax. Buildings are not as impressive as the main fortress ruins, but views are gorgeous. Hike is short but steep. Suggest going up to granaries (steep), then going down less steep trail by going to military outlook ruins and then back to bottom. You can also... More

Visiting the Granaries is another must when visiting Ollantaytambo. We were staying at the Apu Lodge. The entrance is just down from the lodge so look for the sign on the walkway. It is a good climb uphill, a little steep so take your time. The view of the town and Sacred Valley is worth it. These old store houses... More

This often overlooked hike offered great views of the ruins and the city. We were warned it was very steep but wooden railings make it much easier. Highly recommend!

We hike here very early in the morning. The route is steep up and down and somewhat uneven but not difficult for in shape sixty year olds, not fully acclimatized to the altitude. The view across the town to the ruins is worth every step. There was no charge either.

The entrance is very inconspicuous and off the beaten path, but we did this one afternoon before we left Ollantaytambo because we didn't want to venture too far from the town. Its a bit of a strenuous hike, but the views from the top are breath taking and there are some cool ruins to check out. I'd do it again... More

Access to Pinkuylluna is down one of the cobble alleys off of the main square. This is a great hike with amazing views of Ollantaytambo
