Visited this part of Peru in May 2017. It was stunningly beautiful and one of my favourite parts of my trip to Peru. A must see before you visit Machu Picchu.

This is a good stopover to check this amazing venue out plus to take the train to head to Machu Pichu as the station is also in this town. Do visit the ruins and spend at least half a day inside. There are lots of...More

Take the time to do some hiking in the valley when you visit the village and Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo.

it is a nice trip with charming villages and colorful Inca people. Watch out the market days, these are very colorful and the people are not so awkward to tourists as in other places close by Mach Picchu

this is a great valley: on the way to it you have very nice landscapes and you can follow the river. Not a lot of tourists. There is a nice archeological site in Ollantaytambo.

We slept with Local famili in Patachanca village, and took a trek thru tarrases back to Ollaytaytambo. Fantastic 2-3hr trek thru beautiful scenery. Not very popular so you run away from tourists. Reccomended !

This was one of our favorite archeological sites to visit in Peru - very impressive. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

We loved this valley - following the river that flows by Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. Our driver had the keys to a simple 400 year old church with a bell tower set amongst inca ruins, usually opened once a year to celebrate the Festival...More

We will be staying in Ollantaytambo for 2 days. We're reserving the morning of one day to explore the ruins. We'd like to spend the other day in the Patacancha Valley in a local village. What would be the best way to arrange to get to a local village? Can we easily book it when we arrive in Ollantaytambo, or should we arrange it before we arrive in Peru? Would an excursion on our own be more advantageous than going to see the women's weaving coop through Awamaki? Thanks!
