Overview
More
Sculptured through the workings of wind, water and vegetation, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes stand out as one of Fiji's most unique wonders. In 1989, 390 acres of the Sigatoka Sand Dunes was established as Fiji's first National Park- The Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. A key contributor to its protection is the archaeological treasures buried beneath the dune sands. These artefacts have contributed to the history of man's first arrival in Fiji. Today, evidence of this past continue to be unearthed by the wind. The Park is home to a unique Dune forest which is now home to a myriad of wildlife. Some notable inhabitants of this forest include the Fijian Swallow tail Butterfly, the fruit bats, the Goshawks, the giant stick insects and cryptic Pacific Boa. The National Park is a Fijian heritage, rich in both natural and cultural attributes.

Great walk. We did the two hour walk. We didn’t rush and took us about 1hr40mins. Scenery and view was amazing. Really great, cheap group day out. It is a shame it is not more widely advertised by the resorts as is well worth doing...More

Beautiful and raw - the climb up and down was super fun!! My 3 year old and 11 year old both loved it.

Some tips: If you come alone it's not easy to find parking that "feels" safe (both the road and leaving your car alone). It's steeper than it looks. Your calves will feel it.. You will be out of breath by the time you get to...More

Our seven year old says "it was amazing, nothing to complain about". Probably not suitable for preschool kids. Take plenty of water, Sun screen and insect repellent (although didn't see any mozzies). Take decent shoes, not flip flops, and a snack as it's quite physical...More

We came here as part of our Skellys Tour. Unfortunately it was not the best weather & rain was on the way so we opted for the shorter circuit walk approx 1.5 km which only requires moderate fitness.......but if you can do the 2hr walk...More

Well appointed Park building and briefing gives you 2 choices - 1 or 2 hour walk - both with beach section, and both with a modest uphill component. Some of the railings and steps in need of removal or replacement but overall a great spot...More

Beautiful National Park for a short two km walk to a stunning beach. The only National Park in Fiji. Interesting to see piles of driftwood stacked up on the beach. Return to the car park through a mahogany forest. Several walking tracks all clearly marked....More

We almost missed the place as we were looking for sand dunes. Surprisingly the dunes all were overgrown with lush greenery. We decided to do the short tour guided by one of the rangers named Zac who gave quite a lot of explanations.

We did the shorter route (1km) instead of the longer 2km one since it was mid day and the sun was blazing. It was a really nice hike into the forest, a 'desert' and along the beach with the magnificient Pacific Ocean view. It's a...More

We went smack in the afternoon when the sun was blazing at around 1.30 p.m. but the hike was doable. We took the one hour trail and were done within 90 mins. Extra time was taken to admire the scenery and absorb the nature.

Any sort of good hiking boot would suffice. All of us wore normal runners and didn't experience any issues.
