No hassels here, fruit and veg in season and a great variety of clothing, hats, jewellry and nick nacks for the tourist, no pushy sales people, take it or leave it!

Recently, I spent three days in Papeete during a two-week independent trip around the islands. My hotel was quite near to Municipal Market, so I had occasion to really go several times. It is, quite simply, one of the best local markets that I've been...More

If you are in Tahiti you should take a stroll through the market. If you want to buy some souvenirs or a few pearls it is a place to check out. If you need vegetables the ones here seem to last longer and be fresher...More

This is where local people shop and, although there was tourist stuff, there was enough authentic produce for it to feel "real" . Lots of raw tuna so, if you are self catering, this would be a good place to buy. Also the fruit looked...More

Hi there, has anyone been to the marketplace or near downtown after 5pm? Are restaurants/shops open in the late evening/night time? We are arriving in Papeete around 5:30 pm and would like to explore for a few hours while we wait for our flight. Any info would be appreciated!

The food trucks at the waterfront open at 6pm and go for as along as needed. They are a great place to visit. There are numerous restaurants in the area also.
Hi does the Market is open during the 1st of November? Knowing that it is a public holiday. Thank you.
