Should be otherwise known as museum of minerals and mining

Only knew of museum by being told - the title "Museum of earth and man" is misleading. It is worth a visit if only to view the vast collection of amethyst, quartz as well as... read more

Only knew of museum by being told - the title "Museum of earth and man" is misleading. It is worth a visit if only to view the vast collection of amethyst, quartz as well as most obscure minerals and semi-precious stones. There is a small shop but it is quite commercial, There are public toilets also, but no cafe or... More

Located near NDK (NPC - National Palace of Culture), this Museum has a curios name, that I can only explain with the exhibition on the second floor where is the effect on peoples progress and usage of different minerals, otherwise it should have been called Museum of mineralogy. The rocks/minerals are amazing and vary in colour and shape, but the... More

The collection of stones is not the best in the world but very good though. Very badly (or not) illuminated in this sovjet style museum that others would call "old charm" perhaps.

This museum has an amazing collection of huge crystals. All the displays are in Bulgarian, so I didn't really learn anything, but loved it anyway. Shame they don't have a gift shop selling little polished stones to,take home.

There are thousands of exhibits, but little labeling in English. There are a few posters presumably advising how the crystals were formed and where on earth they can be found however none of these are in English - a shame.
