It's between Vitosha Boulevard and Alexandr Nevsky Cathedral so it's on the way when you are visiting the main landmarks of the city. When you visit here, you would also visit the city park where locals get a rest or have lunch, I loved how...More

With Ivan Vazov being one of the most important writers in Bulgarian literature, it is certainly wise to name this beautiful national theatre after him. The building is nicely preserved with bright colour and rich decorations of great composition.

The building is depicted on the 50 levs banknote. A Vienna style environment looking over City Garden. The only possible visits of the building are during a show in Bulgarian.

Set in a small city centre park, this building is crammed with detail. There's a really chilled atmosphere too with street vendors (but no hussle), chess players etc.

The building in and of itself is beautiful. The park and the public lands on the outside is great for a walk or to relax and people watch.

It's always good to go to the theater. To relax and ti gwt away from reality. Ivan Vazov is the best theater in Sofia. Full of culture and great architecture. It's also a great place to go hang with friends.

My Bulgarian took me here and he pointed out to me that in one of the angels up on top, there is one with a golden ball. Take a closer look and you will find it!

National Theater has splendid view at night in the winter. There are beautiful Christmas decorations in front and a lot of lights in the evening. Near you could visit the park and Christmas bazaar and enjoy a glas of mulled wine...

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if the theater offers shows in English. I know that at least one review here and the website of the theater, which seems to be available only in English, indicate otherwise, but maybe I am missing something. If someone could point me towards other cultural venues in English I would be very grateful. Kind regards and a happy new year, Lukas Köstler

Hi Lukas. T To what I heard and remember during my Sofia tourist tour in 2016, there are no English plays. It's all in Bulgarian. Sorry to disappoint you. Still, if it's not freezing weather during your Sofia visit, I... More
