The main monument is a huge example of Soviet Power / influence and propaganda which is fantastic for people interested in Soviet History and World War 2. The park is also lovely with plenty seating to sit and enjoy the surroundings, most impressive.

This is a nice park and the monument gives it a sense of past. It is very interesting and informative. ( Also house skateboarding facilities)

For history and especially WW2 lovers it's a good choice. For others - if you pass by, have a look. In my opinion, a special visit to this place is a waste of time.

The Soviet Era produced a very distinctive style of monumental art and there are some fine examples here, especially on the plinths around the main statue, they include some great detail. The ground can be very very slippery after snow has fallen so take care.

Impressive statue, it’s massive, but lack of information about it. The park it’s in is nice but there was a pack of stray dogs (we saw a lot of stray dogs) so that was quite depressing. The dogs were filthy, skinny and had matted coats...More

This monument is not very popular at all with all the Bulgarians I know. There are lots of their countrymen to celebrate - this monument to the Soviet Union is not needed nor is it wanted. The local teenagers use it to practice their graffiti...More

This monument is a stone throw from the Cathedral and well worth the very short wall. The monument is quite striking and imposing in the small park that surrounds it. An important piece of history shown in three impressive statues. Top tip: from the Cathedral...More

Typical Soviet era war memorial to commemorate their "liberation" of Sofia from the Nazis in WW2. Worth a visit for sure, particularly if you have an interest in WW2.
