Dating back to the thirteenth century, St. Mark's is the parish church of Upper Town. Not much of the Romanesque structure survives, and the most iconic feature of the church is the boldly colored glazed roof tiles that were installed after the great earthquake in 1882. The tiles depict the coats of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, Slovenia, and the city... More

The church have been built as early as the 13th century, this is Catholic Church. The roof is very unique and beautiful, and shows coat of arms of the city of Zagreb (white castle on red background) and (from the past) Triune Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia.

I just jump to ST. Mark's church because I was doing the Gosht and Dragon's tour. For me was stunning the view and colourful church from outside.

The church is old and small. It is not open daily but when I visited it a service was on going and the church was packed with people.

This church is located in the historical Upper Town. The roof is very attractive and is prominently visible from quite a distance. One of the oldest buildings in Zagreb, the church is protected by the Republic of Croatia as a cultural heritage. Originally built in the 13th century, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times. We did not enter the church.

I wasn't able to go inside while I was there; however, the roof alone is an attraction. It's quite lovely.

Definitely worth seeing during a walk through Old Town. The streets were empty because of the temperatures that were close to freezing. Very crowded during the warmer seasons.

We passed by several times before we found the door open. I have to say the roof is the most dynamic part of the visit. The inside isn't grand, but it is well used daily by parishioners, and it's worth the stop.
