Had the chance to pop in for a look-see during our private tour of Bucharest, and we were quite impressed. Absolutely beautiful interior, and well-designed for acoustics. Not a very large venue, I must return for a concert. We especially like the mural depicting Romanian history dating back to the Dacian period, and the seating was very comfortable.

We went here just to visit the building. This landmark is absolutely beautiful. Go inside and see the grand entry and the concert hall, well worth the visit. We then bought tickets for a Thursday night concert and were not disappointed. The music selection, orchestra and conductor were all top notch. It was such a pleasure to sit in the... More

We were able to get in at the side door late afternoon for a quick look inside. We did not have a tour, but were allowed to go inside and see the incredible space, beautiful marble stairs, softer curves than those of the Palais Garnier. The theatre was awesome, beautiful seating areas, ceiling and mural. Would have loved to attend... More

This place is very nice inside. Acoustics good. Seating plentiful, although the seats are not very comfortable. Very affordable and easily a must-do when in Bucharest!

There was even a concert practice going on whilst we sat quietly in the seated area. This was an unplanned bonus!

We were so impressed with the Athenaeum - we were fortunate to visit it on Easter Sunday, when it was open to the public. The inside is breathtaking

We visited by chance. You go through a side door and are greated informally by the Janitor. After paying your 10 lei you can wander around and sit for as long as you like in the theatre. The interior is wonderful. Worth a visit.

We were staying at the Radisson, which is only a short walk away. We went over to take a photograph and saw a sign on the locked front door saying "visitors" with an arrow pointing right. We walked around to a door and were met by a gentleman who confirmed that for £2 each we could walk around inside, unescorted... More

The Romanians certainly know how to build beautiful buildings and this is no exception. Totally amazing and impressive. Nestled amongst more modern buildings with a delightful quiet garden in the front with some beautifully designed seats. Well worth a visit - just a pity it wasn't open when we were there as i understand the interior is impressive.
