Called the “French Plaza” in English, this pleasant spot offers great views and a leisurely spot in which to purchase and savor raspados (fruity snow cones) on hot, humid days. Housed in this plaza is the elegant Instituto Nacional de Cultura (National Institute of Culture), which was among the sites used for “Quantum of Solace,” a 2008 James Bond film that supposedly took place in Bolivia and Haiti but was filmed in Panama. Formerly the Supreme Court building, the Instituto now houses a small theater and hosts cultural events.

After one checks the old casco and its churchs, one can head up here and find local souvenirs and this plaza, which is not that great but yet another place to visit. There is a good view of the whole city

Interesting place with historical value and when you go upstairs, you get very nice view of both old and new part of the city.

We spent a couple of hours strolling round the old town and enjoyed the ambience here. We also watched the pelicans roosting in the nearby trees. Felt very safe

Great plaza Memorial dedicated to all the key leaders that brought the Panama Canal to reality. Each monument depicts the leader and each one has a story that made Panama what it is today.
