This museum is a family favorite that offers great variety of all things maine. My son loves the animal section, I love the upstairs where the old home set up and camp set up is. Takes me back to my own child hood.

Visit the museum in conjunction with a trip next door to the Capitol building. The museum is well designed and the exhibits blend state history with natural history. For $3, you get a great deal of bang for your buck.

Learn a little bit about everything there is to know about Maine. Recommend you allow at least 2 hours if you are a history buff. Great for kids and adults.

Spent an hour here and could have stayed longer. There are exhibits here detailing all of Maine's industries; fishing, logging, granite, textiles, milling. We also enjoyed the natural exhibits.

If you are in Augusta you should not forgo the opportunity to stop by the Maine State Museum. The name might not sound exciting, but the collection is rich and worth to go in. Low entrance fees.

We came by Augusta while travelling back to Canada from Portland. This museum is amazing. It has history, geography and economy all to see. It is huge, several stories of exhibits.

Awesome place to spend an afternoon. Three dollars admission is well worth it - has a lot of cool things for kids to do as well.
