You must take the 1Hr boat trip which is near the restaurant, the view is breathtaking and it also takes you to an interesting cave.

Matka lake’s artificiality gives it a unique feel: pretty but somehow ‘not quite right’. It’s definitely worth a visit. A shortish taxi ride from Skopje (for about 700MKD (£10 approx.) each way) is the easiest way to get there if you don’t have your own...More

Nice place outside Skopje: after you park the car there is nice walk to the monastery and you reach the lake. Avoid weekends as it gets overcrowdead.

A walk along the canyon (or alternatively by boat to a cave). It's nothing extraordinary but a nice place to spend some time with friends. For a tourist it also helps getting a better understanding of where all the locals spend their leisure time.

Yes, it's very touristy but also a beautiful place. Go swimming, rent a canoe and sail up the stream. Join a guided boat-tour into the caves or trek along the mountainside. The possibilities are endless and it worth a few hours.

Hi, I will echo another response that you received; that you just walk to the area near the resort hotel where you can rent a boat for about 400 MKD per person and see the lake on a guided tour. The path is somewhat narrow... More

I traveled to Lake Matka in the summer - July. I can only imagine it may be too cold in December. Do you think they may be closed during that time. I suggest you contact the Macedonian Tourist Office.

As a Canadian, a tourist visa is not required for us....just a passport. You should check with the Macedonian Embassy in Riyadh if a Philippine passport will suffice and may not need a tourist visa.
