There is easy access to all the historical buildings and ruins in the Kingston area. Plenty of signage and museums housed in some of the buildings to provide a good insight into the convict periods.

Not much of the original gaol to be seen, only the high walls surrounding gaol. Can view one of the original homesteads, all of which are in excellent condition.

Traveled to Norfolk Island for work but had the time to visit the old settlements ruins . Just the atmosphere in the area gives you a sense of the hardship and pain that must have been experienced in this place. Then a trip to the historical cemetery you can be immersed into the life and death of those early settlers... More

Great tours around the historic area and special thanks to the convict research centre for all their help. Enjoyed the swim.

This is a great place to walk around as the views in all directions are spectacular. It is also full of history with the museums found inside the well maintained buildings from the 1800s. It has the best of both worlds for a tourist .

Lots of old ruins to visit and walk around, all for free and most are wheelchair accessible. Heaps of parking and of course toilets never too far away. You can spend hours checking out the area and reading the information boards dotted around.

We spent a few days exploring the Kingston township of old convict ruins and enjoyed it immensely. The cemetery was well worth the guided tour, as was the museums pass to all the historical buildings as they are spread about the township area. A must do is a swim in Emily Bay just beautiful. Our full stay was week and... More

The whole Kingston area is an absolute must to visit and explore when on beautiful norfolk island. This place is rich in history and just so beautiful, even with its dark past.
