We enjoyed the cool of the gardens on a hot day. It was mainly well signed although for some reason we cam out around the corner from where we'd entered. Not entirely sure how we managed that.

Thank Goannas
Management response:

Thanks for your review and feedback - the Botanic Gardens is a wonderfully cool spot on a hot day! Sorry to hear you got a little 'bushed'- we are actually in the final stages of the process to add some more directional signage and should be in place by the end of next week. More

The Botanic Gardens are not what most people believe botanic gardens to be - rows of neatly pruned roses and shrubs- no, the Botanic Gardens are actually a series of walks in the native forest area. There is also a very interesting 'education centre' with displays of wildlife unique to Norfolk Island. Do drive to the top of the island... More

Thanks Peter for your review - it's true the Botanic Gardens are not what many expect, but beautifully showcases the native rainforest and wildlife. We hope the centre helped you to gain further knowledge of Norfolk's flora and fauna! More

Take your camera and telephoto lense, the rainforest is full of lovely sights, especially birds and dappled shaded trails that open out into incredible cliff-top views. Plenty of variety in the trails from short to long, easy to more challenging. Take you pick!

I did most of the walks in the National Park and the Bridle Track and the Palm Glen walk were absolutely stunning. I saw a rare green parrot at Palm Glen which is a fairly short and easy walk. The Bridle Track is more demanding but the views make it well worthwhile. The tracks are in great condition and would... More

Management response:

Thanks so much for your review. How fantastic you saw a Green parrot - they are certainly becoming more common on the tracks but not everyone is lucky enough to see one! More

We really enjoyed our visit here. There are boardwalks that will take you to most places and even the steps in steeper places are not too bad. Good to see the native vegetation and some rainforest. The information centre is very good and lots of information on local plants and wild life. Wonderfully maintained.

Entered the National Park from three different areas. One can do a short circular board walk of gardens or for the more adventurous there are several walking tracks of various distances. Most walks entail a lot of steps either up or down. Walks go thru lovely dense tropical like forests.

Management response:

There are so many fabulous walks throughout the Park, lovely to hear you got to a few different ones. Very refreshing on a hot day too, under the thick canopies of subtropical rainforest! More

The Norfolk Island Botanic Gardens are well worth the visit with a wide range of plant species on display. Their are several options of walks available to suit those who prefer short walks, or for those with more time and stamina. The boardwalks are very user friendly and allow access for most people.

Management response:

Thank you for your review. The Botanic Gardens showcases our wonderful native and endemic flora in a very peaceful and natural setting. Hopefully you also had a chance to look in our Discovery Centre - just 20 metres from the entrance of the gardens, which tells the overall story of Norfolk's wonderful array of flora and fauna! We parked on Mission road right outside the entrance. The paths are made up of a few different tracks, you can choose to do the outer loop and/or incorporate all the tracks that dissect the gardens, so if you decide to turn right, you will find the toilets and a little further on, the discovery centre, well worth a look... Management response:

Thanks so much for your review - really pleased you enjoyed the Gardens. The main Boardwalk Track, (wooden path) is wheelchair accessible and leads to the Discovery Centre where there are wonderful displays about Norfolk's natural environment. The viewing deck is also wheelchair accessible - there is a gently sloping wooden pathway which leads there and is the ideal spot... More
