A small exhibit, but worth the trip. It is in a beautiful setting of Nantucket homes. Drop in and check it out!

An interesting looking look back into Nantucket's Fire Department history with two hand pulled fire engines and a hose real. Real good video on the fire of 1846. The docent was quiet knowledgeable.

The main attraction here is the video explaining how the Nantucket fire happened and the pattern of how most of the town was destroyed and why some buildings survived (brick). Short visit but worth the time.(unlike the greater light)

Short but interesting visit that captured the destruction of early fires and the equipment and teams that fought the fires

This little fire hose cart house only houses 2 carts but one was used in the great fire on Nantucket. There is also a short film that you can watch.

I can't imagine this places charges an admission - but you'll probably find yourself driving or walking or biking by 8 Gardner Lane at some point when you're on Nantucket to take a look. It's between town and Main Street. It's a "been there, done that" kind of place. The good thing is that all you have to do is... More

This is a must see if you are into old fire equipment. Once you have come here, spend the amount of money you have nothing else is like going to the whaling museum and then visiting there satellite properties. One of the great adventures of being here. I would also recommend the brewery out in cisco.

This is smaller than I expected, but has a few pieces of firefighting equipment and information about the great Nantucket fire. Included with admission to the Whaling Museum. It makes sense to combine this with a visit to Greater Light which is 1/2 block away.

We loved seeing the historical fire trucks. We enjoyed the film and were fascinated with the information that we learned. Hard to believe how much effort went into put fires out.
