pacaya isn't my favorite volcano that you can see from antigua, but its still provides a scenic view and is remarkably imposing.

This is a very TOUGH hike, very steep up hill, with outstanding views of the Pacific, the capital and two other volcanos at the top! I saw young kids doing it too! (nice to have that energy!)

This volcano was a lot of fun to visit. We didn't get to see any lava flows, but it was still totally cool to go up there and feel the ground and how hot it was and roast some marshmallows. The hike wasn't too bad either.

Definitely worth the trip. The hike itself is easy and what you see if worth every step there! I went on a cloudy day, don’t let the clouds to change your mind:)

Our tour guide could not speak English and we could not speak Spanish but we still had a wonderful time. And thanks to Google translate and the little bit of Spanish we know in a little bit of English they knew it was fine. It was nice because our group was small and other groups were enormous going up. We did not get to see flowing lava that we felt very hot rocks and got to melt marshmallows.
Highly recommend bringing plenty of quetzales so that you can rent horses or sticks. The sticks are worth it and they support the local community. You give them back when you’re done. The horses have a lot of ticks and are sort of dirty but they make the hike easier. We paid 20 US for a horse and I think you can get the sticks for like two dollars or less.
Try to remember to bring a tip for your tour guide they appreciate that.

Easy enough walk up to volcano and really cool to roast marshmallows off the cooled lava and see molten lava not too far from you.

We had a guide and on horseback, we rode to the top. It was an amazing experience and we witnessed rocks glowing red rolling down towards us. Exciting and slightly terrifying! (in a fun way)

Wow, this is an amazing place. First off, it is quite a hike up the volcano, I am fairly fit but it was hard - steep, loose under foot and relentless, it’s no wonder they follow you up for the first part with horses waiting for you to need them. But, keep going and the sight at the top is so worth it, we saw lava rolling down the volcano. You can come down a longer, but less steep route which is easier on the knees.

We did the overnight hike with a guide from OX. It was amazing! Roasting marshmallows on hot rocks while watching the sun set from a volcano will be an experience I’ll never forget.

We decided to do the climb on horseback and it was a really good decision. We could have done it on foot , but we managed to appreciate it more this way.

The views are absolutely spectacular, indescribable to think you are this close to this volcano. You get good views of both Agua and Fuego and of course of Pacaya itself. Toasting marshmallows up the top was a real experience too! They came out perfect.

Would highly recommend. Was there on 7th of March.
