This is worth a quick visit while in Antigua. It’s a small museum, workshop, and store. There is a brief tour—maybe 10-15 minutes—that explains about jade, its role in Guatemalan history and shows replicas of famous jade pieces. It’s short enough for kids to learn something but interesting for adults. I didn’t realize that jade was even found Guatemala. This is completely FREE and although there is a store, there’s no pressure to buy. Our guide Berny spoke great English, looked up our animal protectors on the Mayan calendar, and was very informative! Take a moment to pop in.

This museum/workshop offers valuable insight into the history of jade and its uses in ancient Mayan culture. The saff are welcoming and enthusiastic. Beautiful jewelry is on display for sale at varying and affordable prices. Lovely gallery in a beautiful setting. Our visit there was a highpoint of our time in Antigua. A "gem" of ambiance not to be missed.

We ended stopping as we walked by, prompted by free Museum Tour signs and recognizing the name. The museum is small, but contains many interesting pieces on display as well several interesting facts regarding Jade mining and the history of Jade in Guatemala. Our shopping experience was great. No pressure to buy. The sales associate was patient and helpful. They spoke English fluently as well. There are shops / cafés on the second floor of the building above the small square that also has a nice fountain
