Casa de Artes has everything to educate you about Guatemalan arts, crafts, and history, including very knowledgeable staff to answer any question you have and many you never thought of asking; a wide range of items for sale fitting for the tourist with taste or the upscale collector; demonstrations of dance and costume; and a true sense of what the... Our family lives relatively close to Antigua and we no longer simply wonder around the town randomly looking into all the stores. We make a list of 5-6 places we want to spend more time in. This store is one of those places. Your perspective on the prices at this store will correlate with your feelings about art. If you... More

This is the best place to go and check what Guatemala has to offer as its best quality art crafts. All the products are very well selected and you are sure to have the top quality. Of course this has a price tag but it worth and hardly you will find somewhere else. I went to Chichicastenango and I can... More

My wife was looking for a local mask to add to our collection from other countries we've visited. While there were a lot of masks at Nim Po't, that place really wasn't the right location for asking questions and getting background info about the masks. During our first stop at Casa De Artes, we spent some time talking with a... More

Casa de Artes is not really off the beaten path, it's very close to the wonderful Hotel Porta Antigua. But it is three or four levels above most shops in Antigua in terms of quality of artifacts and prices. They offer a wide variety of authentic textiles, items of pottery, and other historical Guatemalan objects. The store is truly one... More

We have visited this store many times over the last 10 years and it is amazing. They have the finest of pieces of Guatemalan folk art in one place with a staff that are very friendly and helpful. Beautifully displayed and priced fairly you will find items that are rare and beautiful. The weavings and textiles are carefully cleaned and... More

After walking past this about 100 times on my way to/from the town center, I finally stopped by. (Oddly, you have to ring a bell to have someone let you in.) What a great place! The staff is friendly and ready to answer questions, but leaves you alone to browse. There were extensive selections of handmade items, organized by rooms... More

What a treat this was to stumble on. From the moment you enter you can tell this is something special. Seems it was lovely spaciousprivate home converted into an art gallery. High celiengs rounced arches, gardened courtyards.... Each room holds a fascinating and near perfect examples of a variety of high quality native art, textiles, carved masks, statues and jewelry.... Casa de Artes has a supreme collection of Guatemalan arts and crafts. The antique clothing is especially beautiful. They have antique wooden masks, too, and creative jewelry, fabric and majolica. Their ‘loss leaders’ are great deals at low prices. People in our group grabbed up scores of lovely soft scarves for $5-$10 each and well worth it. My purchase was... More
