A small but beautifully formed museum. The section on Roman history of the area is excellent. Lots of interesting exhibits with detailed descriptions of the history of the relevant times. Covers Zadar and Nin areas. Nicely set out in a modern building (with facilities!). Very well worth a visit - good cafes nearby.

Firstly, there are no lifts, so you will need to be able for the steps to the entrance, and another two flights of stairs to access all exhibitions. On the day we visited, there was a group of students doing a presentation on the top floor, so half the exhibition was unavailable - would have been good if the cashier... More

Three floors: start at the top for a remarkable collection of stone age artefcact and pottery, first floor for roman times, and the ground for medieval church-architecture exhibits. The presentation is mangnifcent: plenty of information in English, well structured and well laid out. A good survey prehistorica and classical times in this part of the world. Next time in Zadar... Bits of antiquity that spans 1000s of years. You can see it in less that 2 hours and really well presented, especially the Roman era section.

One of the better museums I have been in, three floors you can walk around in, and the layout is very good. most items just sitting there, good mid point as you explore Zadar

If you enjoy history, or just want to see unigue art and artifacts, then you must visit. You can breeze through in 30 minutes or stay for hours and learn the rich history of Zadar that pre-dates the rise of Rome and the birth of Christ.

We got so many warnings about the necessity of having Kunas, but we found most places will take Euros. This superb museum has some truly extraordinary exhibits, and also a nice gift shop. Only four euros to enter - a great bargain.

Situated beside some of the open air ruins the museum isn't advertised very well and could easily be missed. Once inside you are subjected to a plethora of Roman artifacts from the 1st Century BC accompanied with in depth descriptions of each. I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of artifacts available to view including many glass and stoneware... More
