It's a gate - not much else to say about it other than part of a beautiful well preserved city of historical interest

Sea Gate known as the Gate of St. Chrysogonus. Built in 1560 using an existing Roman arch for a base,

Not quite as impressive as the land gate but a worthwhile experience to your overall understanding of the historical roots of Zadar

A probable entrance point if you're entering the city from the pedestrian bridge across the marina. An impressive architectural achievement in the context of its time, slightly less impressive than the Land Gate (Zadar main gate). Only worth making a detour for if you're a history or architecture fan.

Our family visited Zadar in July 2016. We parked on the main street and by default walked through the Sea Gate. It's just another gate (I'm sure there's some interesting history here) but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see it.

It's part of the old city wall of Zadar, and from the beatiful part of the town. DOn't go to the new parts of the town, they look like they never get out of the war yet ....

We saw this on our walking tour of the old town. Very detailed stonework! Wish we had a guide so we could have learned more about it.

Did a city walking tour with an English speaking guide. She was very informative and gave us lots of information on the history of the area as well as the Italians/Romans who came over here.

When I visited (end of Oct / early Nov) you could not see much of the Sea Gate as it looks like they are repairing / renovating it and it is mainly covered in scaffolding and tarpaulin. If you stand to the side though you can see the detail of the stonework and can see that it an impressive part... More

One of the historic gates in the wall surrounding most of the old city. Beautiful details. Easy to visit on your walking tour around the old town of Zadar.
