One can get some beautiful pictures around the North Gate, While walking around there, we came upon some young people coming down a pathway and we asked them where they were coming from. We were told that the path they had just come down was the "Free Shepher's Path." to go up to the Fortress. Of course, we decided to... More

This is probably the gate one would use when approaching the city from the cruise ship. It is the most attractive of the entrances to the city There is a bridge that crosses the clear River Skurda before one reaches the gate and the whole scene together with the impressive walls cries out for photographs to be taken.

Impressive to see a working moat. This entrance Vrata od Škurde is much more impressive than the one on the promenade

Entering the Old Town of Kotor by the Northern Gate is the nice beginning of the town walk, but the Gate itself is very beautiful because of the stunning view of the Old Town walls reflecting in the river. From the small bridge which leads to the gate you can also take a nice photo of the St. John Fortress.

Crossing the bridge over the river is a great way to enter the city. It is close to the car park and can be the start of a trip right through the old city. The gate sight up against the cliffs that rise behind and two of the churches close by.

Looks very dramatic and like a fortress. Clearly was protection for the city. You can walk along top. Is lit at night.

Wander around here - the best time is in the evening when all the cruise ships have left. Then find a little watering hole for a beer.

Probably the best gate to enter Kotor old town. You'll have to cross a little bridge before entering the city. You have a great view of the fortress from there.

Kotor has one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic and is a UNESCO world heritage site.[3] It is home to numerous sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in the old town (built in 1166), and the ancient walls which stretch for 4.5 km (3 mi) directly above the city. Sveti Đorđe and Gospa od... More
