Theoretically, there are several palaces in Kotor. From my point of view, there is none. All the so-called palaces are just ordinary buildings. Palaces are Versailles, Schonbrunn, etc, not these.
Besides, in the case of Grubonja, a lot of people wrote reviews and posted pictures representing a completely different location, the Clock Tower in Arms Square. People, you have no idea what you have visited...

Probably my favorite of all the Palaces in Kotor. The unique clock tower, builded with stones is pretty cool!

There are several palaces located at the Old Town. This one of them, located next to the Clock Tower.
I noticed most tourists taking pictures of the Clock Tower, but not this attraction. I wondered if they are like me, did not know that the building next to it is a Palace!

This is one of the first buildings you see upon entering through the Sea Gate, which stands adjacent to the Clock Tower. Full of history no doubt, it is a shame that there is no information stating what this is to garner interest.

This Renaissance palace was home to local nobility, the Grubonja family. It is not open to the public, but there are a few architectural details on its exterior worth viewing. Most interesting is the brick arch over the street on the north side of the palace marking the entrance to Fortress San Giovanni (St. James) on the hill. Look for a medallion with 1760 (the year it was built) and the winged lion of Saint Mark. The Latin words “Regia munitae rupis via” mean "The main road to the fortress on the hill." The front of the palace has a stone carving of a skull & cross bones, snake, turtle, rat and mouse, possibly indicating that this was a medieval pharmacy. The second floor windows sills rest on brackets with carved lions heads (indicating the family's connection to Venice). The Grubonja Palace is easy to find, near the North Gate and across from the Church of St. Mary's Collegiate. A small plaza nearby has a fountain, trees,
benches, and is a welcome oasis of calm from the crowds in the main square (Piazza of the arms) near the Sea Gate on the western side of the city.

Without a very very keen eye Grubonja Palace is not noticeable at all. You'll see it when you enter the old town but it won't catch your eye. It's not really a tourist attraction.

Nowadays no different to the other buildings within the old town however, of particular interest is the arch entrance to the upper fortress, above the arch is sculptor of a winged lion. Worth a look during an exploration of the city.

Located in the piazza as soon as you enter through the Sea Gate, it’s the building attached to the Clock Tower.
Doesn’t seem that interesting at all but it’s part of the architecture that’s there so give it a quick glance, although I doubt you’d miss it anyway.
