We spent about an hour meandering along the edges of this pretty green river topped by Stari Most, the Old Bridge.

My husband and I are very pleased we decided to come to Mostar. We took two tours which covered what we needed to know about the city old and present.
We ate two meals in the old town and visited both day and night.

I love the Old Town of Mostar. I visited years ago - it has not changed.
The iconic re-built bridge gives wonderful views of the river Neretva flowing underneath it.
Some young men like to pose around before showing off their diving skills.
The bridge can be a bit slippery and crowded so be careful.
Crossing the bridge you arrive where all the shops and cafes are. It still remains its’ authentic Ottoman Turkish character.
About 3 hours is enough to have a sit down meal and wander about.

If these sorts of 'old towns' are new to you then you may like this. It's a very typical old town replete with vendor after vendor selling the same crap, ice cream shops, cafe's, restaurants trying to wrangle you in and what is likely fake sterling jewelry.

If you've not experienced this before then fill your boots - you'll enjoy the experience. My wife and I have seen this dog and pony show more times than I care to count and got through and out the other side as fast as we could.

If you're going here during covid then I can tell you that there are zero covid precautions taken here. We almost left as we fly home in 5 days and the last thing that we need to do is have a positive PCR test even if we're both vaccinated.

Beautiful old Bosnian town. Very small old downtown. You can clime to the top of Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque for overall view, walk on the famous Old bridge. We saw few local youth jumping from the bridge. In addition to a known tourist attraction, I would recommend to visit a cemetery in the middle of the town: very old mosque, few old graves, and endless rows of the fresh white monuments over graves of the 19-20 years old died during the war 1993-1995. Like many military cemeteries that brings TV news to life. Very sad.
If you are limited in time, 1.5-2h is enough.

It's hard to "rank" Mostar old city. I say that because getting there from Dubrovnik makes for a long day so the question is "is the drive worth it" and that's not an easy answer. Ultimately I'd say yes for several reasons but I wouldn't do it twice. First, having the opportunity to visit Bosnia & Herzegovina is incredible. But also to go somewhere that is more influenced by its Ottoman heritage is unique for us. Last, being able to compare and contrast it to its Croatian neighbor was enlightening as well because they are very different. I always think it's important to go outside of the immediate area where we are vacationing to get a more realistic feel for a region and this definitely accomplished that. We really only spent a couple hours plus had lunch here but there were lots of handmade gifts in addition to touristy shops. It was fun to walk around and the river is a beautiful green color. But there's sadness to over its suffering during the war. We are glad we went but as mentioned, we wouldn't go twice.

This is a beautiful old town to wander around on both sides of the bridge plus there are great views of the river. There are plenty of good restaurants and cool souvenir shops too.

Beautiful area to walk around day or night! Plenty of shops and places to eat. We found our souvenir patch and a pair of earrings. There was sit down restaurants where the staff wore traditional outfits. We had delicious coffee at the tower and gelato!

This is a very atmospheric and cobbled part of Mostar best seen early in the morning or late afternoon when most of the tourists have gone. It is said to have a very distinctive Turkish or Ottoman feel to it. The shops and houses have attractive limestone shingled roofs.

We loved wandering around the area of the old bridge. The bridge itself is beautiful - now reconstructed following its destruction in the 1993 war and listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, and the views and photos from the bridge over the river are beautiful.

The area is full of great little shops and places to eat, some with views of the bridge and if you are lucky of the brave souls who dive from the bridge
