By day, the mosque including its minaret may lòok bland and ordinary but it is prettier in dusk where its natural earth color blends well when the sky is blue. More so the different shades of lights that flood its surroundings complements well with this ancient holy place of worship. In its corner facing the coliseum is a ancient sun... More

This is an ancient mosque, unusual in that it is square instead of round and has seven domes. Right in the centre of Plovdiv, it is has a beautiful, well preserved interior and is well worth a visit

It is a good recommendation if you go with children because they make you dress up with a long robe and a headscarf if you go with short clothing. It is a nice mosque with good decoration in the inside.

As a person who enjoys learning about different cultures I appreciate the fact that anyone can enter this mosque to see what is inside. You must remove your shoes, and that seems reasonable to me. I am told that one may not go in during prayers and that seems reasonable as well. The architecture is stunning and the ornamentation fascinating.... More

This afternoon I decided to try the renowned sweets in the cafe and ended up not having any. Moreover, I took a visiting friend there and he was disappointed as well. The waitress came to take the order - a tea, a cappuccino and a portion of one type of sweets. She brought the drinks and informed me that that... More

Even if you forget about the historic important of this place, you can always enjoy having a great strong Turkish coffee and some baklava. The cafe is always crowded, This is meaningful enough. The authentic Turkish dishes will keep you occupied in resting for long.

The mosque is still used to pray in and also it is open to visit inside the mosque. There is a cafe right outside the building where you can taste some Turkish food! It is on the main shopping road and easy to access!

Non-Muslims should feel comfortable stepping inside this beautiful house of worship for a look, after removing their shoes first, before retreating to the Turkish cafe below for coffee, a treat and good people-watching.
