Great collection. Its a walk thru time as to how mankind has evolved from prehistoric to modern age. Its only when the new becomes the old and obsolete that eventually redeem their value several hundred years ahead.

Another museum that has a STUPID no photo policy. I walked a considerable distance from my hotel to see it, as I had been told it is a world class museum. Well, it is. But, you will have to take my word for it, since I could not take any pictures. Plovdiv will be the European Capital of Culture in... More

Spent an hour here enjoying the Thracian, Greek and Roman inspired artifacts. They have some pretty amazing things including some gold goblets and plates and a beautiful silver and iron death mask that was stolen, but found elsewhere in Europe and returned to the museum last year. Visiting really helped me understand the layers of civilization under my feet.

Located just on the end of the main pedestrian street when you go from city center to the river direction. Just before river, left side. Not very big exposition around 10 rooms, but very interesting. Lot of gold showpieces. Ticket price 4.-BGN in September 2016 (around 2.-EUR). Perfect place for 1...2h during the rain ;-)

Not as extensive as the archaeological museum in Sofia, but a nice place to visit. Exhibits are well marked and informative.

One good location to find interesting information about our ancestors. Very nice, very detailed museum. Impressive collection from all historical times. It worth to visit! It is only 5 leva. Bad that they had no English translator.

This is one of the best museums of its type that I've encountered in my travels. It is logically laid out, painting a chronological history of the area of Plovdiv. The artifacts are interesting and the signage is professionally done, with excellent translations into English. Do not miss the mosaics!
