- Ana Beatriz T31 contributionsThe best place in Varna for nature loversThis place was the highest spot of my trip, the peace and respect that the animals are treated there is amazing. The butterflies are so pretty and you get to see them flying around and even coming out of their cocoon. The repitiles are also amazing and it’s a pretty fun experience so hold an australian lizard! I recommend to everyone to visit, me and my husband stayed there for 1 hour and i left fascinated. Thanks for the owners and employers for being so kind and explaining everything to us!Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 July 2024
- Marvin H15 contributionsVery nice and interactive introduction to butterflies, reptiles and insects. Recommended!Very nice butterfly house. Super nice man who gives you a short tour and clear explanation. You can take a picture with the butterflies by taking a piece of fruit where the butterfly sits. In the repetition section you will also get an explanation from the employee and he will put a few on your hand if you want. A nice house to get to know the animals and insects interactively. Highly recommended for those visiting Varna.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 July 2024

- MikeP96 contributionsThe place to see non-native butterflies in BulgariaIf you like butterflies, this is a good place to see them. (They have some other animals to see too.) The butterflies fly around you and you are free to photograph them. The owner explains the other exotic animals he keeps - a real enthusiast. There's a small entry fee.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 October 2024

Excellent place to visit while staying in Varna. Myself and my two teenage boys all enjoyed the experience. The guide was brilliant, full of knowledge and we didn't feel rushed at all. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted in the butterfly room before being able to handle the various insects and reptiles including beetles, stick insects and Chameleons.

My partner and I had a week in varna so we decided to check out the butterfly house. For starters the entomologist there was AMAZING. So friendly and knowledgeable. We were the only ones there so he took us through every species and explained every insect or animal that he had. He gave us so many facts and let us interact with everything. You can really tell how passionate he is about the insects and animals there and that made it so much better for us. We are both in our early 30s and had so much fun. This place is truly great for everyone of any age.
Thank you again for everything!!

I really enjoyed my visit, it completely exceeded my expectations. The place offered a nice variety of animals and insects to see and hold. Luckily I got to witness a butterfly hatch from its cocoon! Our guide was the nicest man even and it was clear that he had passion and honest care for all of the creatures.

We visited the butterfly house as it was something we hadn't seen elsewhere in Bulgaria. We met the owner who showed us round and explained the different species. We were able to hold 4 or 5 different butterflies and took some beautiful photos! The entrance price is cheap and they helped us get a taxi after our visit. Overall a lovely trip and a great experience :)

We visited and were greeted by the very friendly owner who spoke English and explained all about the small indoor butterfly garden. The butterflies are kept in the temperature and humidity controlled room where visitors are free to walk around and see the butterflies. All are beautiful and the Attacus Atlas butterfly (the biggest in the world) is huge, impressive and fascinating. The owner was really friendly and helpful. There is even a separate area for children to draw, play and have their faces painted. Recommended.

We visited here thinking it was going to be a little room with a couple of Butterflies. How wrong we were. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome in the reception area. The gentleman who greeted us was exactly that, a Gentleman. He gave us a little prep talk before we went into the Butterfly area. He is so enthusiastic it is infectious. You want to know more and see more. For 6 Lev it is well worth a visit. In fact it is a must.
When entering the Butterfly room you are immediately hooked on everything around you. There are numerous Butterflies flitting around and the background sounds are so fitting.
While in there the owner describes the different species and where they originate from and you are invited to feed the little beauties from your hand. They are all around gracefully flying about, just watch where you are stepping as they land everywhere.
There is a pond feature in the middle with fish and a couple of turtles one of which i fed.
There is also a little room at the back where there are more amazing insects, Stick Insects and a Prickly stick insect i believe from Australia. Nice friendly little fellows. There are also some very large snails and a Bulgarian Centipede which you would not want to handle. All in all we had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend visiting the VARNA BUTTERFLY CENTRE.
Thank you for an amazing enlightening time at your wonderful centre. We wish you all the best in the future and helping more people to see these wonderful insects.
Please visit and support this amazing place.

A very nice visit indeed. It is small but very interesting. Beautiful butterflies of course, you're free to roam and to take the creatures on your hands ( which is not hard, 2-3 will land on you anyway).
The kids that visited when we were there were delighted.
The owners are very friendly and speak English.

Staff who are clearly passionate about the creatures in their care. Good conversational English. We went twice for the children and they enjoyed it thoroughly.
