Beautiful, but the smaller St Nicolas church not far from there is also well worth a visit. The archaeological museum is also fe effort, as is the sea garden. Visit xeker also Varna mall with accompanying car and wax figures museum.

    Breathtaking
A peaceful place! Very pretty paitings all over the church and the celling ones are the orettiest! You don’t need to pay to enter but if you want to light a candle you need to buy in the reception of the cathedral by the entrance. Inside the church there is always people praying and doing their devotionals so remember to be silent, photos without a flash and respect the place in first place!

    Orthodox cathedral with golden domes.
Varna Cathedral is majestic and imposing. Observing it outside, its high domes all of gold stand out. It is located in the middle of a square a few meters from a busy avenue. The church is reserved for prayer but tourists can enter the building without disturbing. It is one of the city's must-see attractions.

The most beautiful of all churches we visited in Bulgaria
Although impressive from the outside, the interior is just sumptuous with beautiful frescoes on every wall and ceiling making a glorious impression. Of all the churches we visited in our tour of Bulgaria, this had the most impact on us even though it does not have the size and scale of some in Sofia. Photos can be taken provided it is done respectfully and donations are appreciated for use of camera.

Visited the Cathedral one morning and found a beautiful big church with a lot of beautiful icons inside, both painted directly on the walls or on display for dedicated prayers. From what we read, it was finished around 1865 , so it is fairly "new" as compared to other orthodox churches.

Well worth a visit if you want to spend some time in prayer or just gather your thoughts in a holy and tranquil place. Access is free.

Immediately you enter this beautiful church, you get a sense of its deep roots in the lives of the people. Hardly an inch of its walls and high dome are covered with paintings and icons referencing important and meaningful episodes from the gospels and their own ssint's lives. Depending on the day and time, you can witness Orthodox prayers and services, and capture something of the deviutness of this branch of Christianity. A great place for even non-Orthodox to go for peace, quiet and reflection.

Outside this cathedral is not so interesting but inside it’s stunning spatially and materially and very uplifting. Not busy when I visited. To buy candles there is a small shop just as you enter the Main part of the building. The religious objects are quite stunning but one needs to get close. Interesting hung lighting/ chandeliers of carved hard wood bring a delight to the spaces. Not much seating inside. The tiled floor is pedestrian when compared to what is above and hopefully one day this will be upgraded. Pop-in and enjoy the spiritual calm and the cool.

Simply a stunning building, beautifully decorated. Not a huge cathedral, so does not take too much time to see, and can mainly be viewed from the central hall - but well worth sitting in the inner seating to absorb the lovely surroundings. A great building to visit.

I was lucky enough to attend here for a wedding a little while ago but when I saw it come up on here, I just had to leave a review. What a stunning building. It really is magnificent. If you are passing, you must go inside and just take in the surroundings.

A church that perfectly tells the soul of this beautiful city located between east and west. Large light stone building with 6 golden domes. Very scenic from every angle. Its domes can also be seen from very distant points.

Loved this building. Cleverly a ventilation system has kept the amazing art clear of soot. Interesting colour scheme with much contrasting black. This was by far the best example we have seen so far in Bulgaria

This was where my boyfriends parents got married so I really wanted to visit, especially to learn more about the Bulgarian culture. I have to say this is possibly the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The interior is astoundingly beautiful. You can also light candles for loved ones and there are different areas to put them in, it was actually quite emotional. There were priests signing which really added to the atmosphere but we left quite fast as we didn't want to disturb the ceremony that was taking place. A must see if you are in Varna.

Built in the late 1800s to thank Russia for liberating Bulgaria, this cathedral is not particularly impressive, but the wooden iconostasis is beautiful, and the interior is worth at least a quick glance.
