Be mindful the sanctuary has very limited hours. However, it is a must see. The sanctuary is basically a home for mistreated or unfortunate bears to live there lives as they deserve. The English guide was very good and obviously a caring person. If you are anywhere near the sanctuary, you will not regret the visit.

Wonderful to see the rescue bears in a safe and comfortable environment. Lots of information available and a nice walking tour around the grounds.

It is not a visit, it is an experience. The guides tell the sad stories of all animals inside the sanctuary and this brings the most human side of us all. The bears are really pampered, no matter of their story. And getting so close to so many bears in their own habbitat is amazing. Do not miss it!

Impressive location, this a must if you land in the region. Some stories of bears leaving there are very sad. It is a place for kids and adults, do not miss it.

Special Park where rehabilitated bears were captured (was illegal until a few years ago) in this park or treat wounded bears held in captivity by the locals, you can see the bears through the fence, most of them sad.

A truly positive experience to see the rescued bears up close and in their new habitat. The sight of bears climbing trees, playing in the water pools or just lazing in the meadows gives a feel for the true nature of the animals and is wonderful to see them free from their earlier horrific exploitation. A lot of hard graft... More

We visited the bear sanctuary for the 11am tour. We got a bus from Brasov towards Zarnesti (go around every half an hour) and asked the bus driver very nicely if he could drop us off at the bottom of the road which lead up to the sanctuary. From there it was a 2.5 km walk uphill. There is some... More

For me, this was my favourite place in Romania. The area itself is beautiful and the bears are incredible. It was amazing to see a place that takes such good care of these animals that have been mistreated their whole lives. The staff are really friendly and are always ready to answer any questions. The place is a bit hard... More

Tue - Sun, there are visiting groups at 9, 10, 11 and, at least today, on Sunday, at 12. You are not allowed to enter by your own. The bears are fed in the morning and they stay by the fences for a while, but later they leave and cannot be seen anymore. The road is unpaved, but doable by... More

The Libearty Bear Sanctuary was a wonderful trip for our group of tender hearted 20-somethings. We all enjoyed the educational experience as well as the uniqueness of getting to be very close to real bears. They absolutely beautiful and you can really feel the connection with them, despite being separated by a fence. When you arrive at the sanctuary, you... More
