The houses surrounding the square speak of a rich history. A pillory, in the middle of the square, was used as a means for public humiliation, punishment and scorn. The most important building in the square is the Council House, which was built in 1420...More

Quaint square surrounded by restaurants and shops...must be lovely on a warm dry day. Reminded me of Austria with all of the mountains surrounding it.

Lots of places to eat and drink. We spent quite a bit of time each day in the square. Black church is right there and the cable car ride is not far from the square.

It was a joy to just sit and enjoy a nice cold drink after Bucharest which was a bit frenetic . The square is a delightful place to just sit and watch the world go by.

Oddly enough, the place reminded me of the central square in Krakow. There as well, you have this large building in the center of the square, and terraces with lots of people enjoying themselves. Nice!
