Have visited a number of Medina's across Morocco. The Medina was not overly big and there were very few tourists but a number of people who wanted to be your guide. Nice enough but not overly special even though a UNESCO site.

We walked through the Old Medina as we had some free time on our hands. The area outside the old city wall as well as inside is well maintained and clean in line with its status as a Unesco World Heritage site. If you have...More

We took a tour with Flandera Tours. This was our first stop after we cleared customs through Ceuta. Our tour guide Abdoul was wonderful as was the other gentlemen Mohammad and Mohammad who made sure we didn't get lost in the Medina. Lunch was a...More

We went on a trip from our cruise ship when it called in Tangier. As this was a world heritage site we expected something special but having visited both Marrakesh and Fez previously we found this a little disappointing. Fez was much more interesting and...More

Morocco has only 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sites listed at this time, but this Medina is one of them. I generally find that UNESCO sites are really worth a look and was not disappointed this time either. What's interesting is that it seems to feature...More

The medina of tetouan is a place to get lost (very easy to get lost there!) and enjoy the vibes and authentic taste of Tetouan. Forget your prejudices, the medina is a safe place, even in the night and if your group is only women....More

A busy working medina with barely another tourist in sight. The many shoppers are locals, so genuine goods are on offer. Easy and interesting to negotiate with each area having a unique attraction. If you should get lost, the four decorative towers at the entrance...More

Read a review somewhere that said the medina is not that great. Its pretty functional around the edges but climb up into the old medina and realise why its a world heritage site. Once you get to the top you hit the muslim cemetery which...More

Wow! Starting with the Jewish district, the medina of Tetouan is intriguing, captivating, and an experience of life for local people. You can take your bread to be baked, go to someone to sew your clothes, cut your hair, and buy all sorts of household...More

Some pretty parts but thronged with people including those that insist on being your guides and won't go away even if you ignore them. We were thoroughly hassled in Tetouan - worse than Marrakech where they will go away but Tetouan seems to see fewer...More

Will be in Ceuta from 7am-4pm as a cruise ship passenger. Any suggestions for an excursion to Tetouan in that amount of time? There will be four in our group.

Its a 50 minute ride. So there is plenty of time. Personally, I would enjoy Tetouan more than Tangier. More "old" Morocco.
How far is Tetoouan from Tangier? Is it a good/interesting drive? We are trying to decide whether to go to Tetouan or Asilah.
