Resembling an imposing castle fortress, this citadel was built in the 1480s by Sultan Qaitbey on the site of the Pharos Lighthouse, to protect the city from the crusaders who used to attack the city by sea.

Interesting fortress, much bigger than what u imagine from looking from the outside. It s nicely kept and both inside and outside within the wall is a nice outing with lovely views over the city and the sea.

Beautifully built and historical place. Very attractive, one can't resist to take photos. One of most gorgeous fort. The mediterranean sea adds charm to it. Lovely place to sit around and enjoy the breeze. Must visit place

Hi, No there is no a sidwalk, you need to take Uber or taxi, I would recommend Uber. Walking day or night of course is not safe, there high level of crimes these days in Egypt due to falling Economy. Cruise passengers, no... More
