This was the summer office of King Farouk, and has been converted to a luxury hotel. If you are visiting the Montaza palace or gardens, you should go to the El-Salamlek Palace, there is a nice beach nearby and this is a good pit stop for pictures, refreshments and a leisurely stroll (weather and political climate - dependent)!! The palace used to be the office of King Farouk. The building was transformed into a hotel by the end of the 20th century which was closed in 2013, today the building is abandoned with constructions taking place next to it.

It's the summer office of King Farouk, it's turned into a 5 stars hotel. For the time being, it's under renovation.

The palace is inside Montaza Gardens. Very nice to walk around and take some photos. For me it was a welcomed additional benefit when visiting Montaza Gardens. Tipp: Go to Montaza Gardens during sunset. The park is very beautiful, lots of people are there for BBQ, children play around and there is a wonderful sunset view.

I went there in 2007 and it was absolutely beautiful. A must stop on your trip to Alex. I was there also in 11-15 and it is currently closed for renovations. It will reopen as a luxury hotel soon.
