It is interesting because of the history of the Palace but If you compare it with other sight you can visit the Palace in half an hour. Just go up the tower come down and walk the grounds, that is pretty much it.

The entrance to the palace is found on the east side road. You also get your archaeological zone pass here. Note- They no longer accept us dollars for the pass it is 10000kyat only, & you leave your passport with a guard sat at the desk. Once entering through a gate way there is a pretty walk down a tree... More

The entry of 10,000 kyat covers other historical sites, so including the palace in your visit isn't expensive it you are visiting the other sites as well. Keep in mind that the only entrance for foreigners is the eastern gateway. We walked from the south west corner and the promenade around the moat is well used by locals getting some... More

First I should specific that the entry ticket at 10,000ks is not just for this venue but covers several other historical sites. So keep your ticket. You need to have some sort of official id. We did not have our passports so they took my driver's license. Only one id for the group. The visit is interesting as there is... More

Mandalay must have impressed visitors from afar with its splendid palace buildings which stretch a long way back from the entrance area. Sadly the upkeep of these national treasures has lapsed somewhat, in keeping with an awful lot of Myanmar's treasures.

The huge compound of the palace lays in the heart of the city, easy to get there but not quite possible to walk there if you are not staying nearby or close enough to the tourist entrance. It is a beautiful palace with it's architecture work. However, the palace is pretty empty, there are nothing much to see inside the... More

Let's start with the bad stuff. 10k kyat ticket. Destroyed in WWII so all recreated. Most rooms buildings empty. Need a passport/ ID card left with military to get in. Having said that I enjoyed it. Wonderful green (mostly military base?) in the heart of the city. Central place complex looks great from the outside. Super views from the watch... More
