This Pagoda is situated on top of a hill from where can see Mandalay town. It was raining on the day we visited this place and I still recall the tranquilizing sound of running water which made the the enchanting temple even more beautiful. The...More

It is amazing place for sunset. It is situated northeast of Mandalay. We can get either soft trek or by car at the foot of the mountain. It will take about 20 minutes on foot and 10 minutes by car. We may breath taking the view of...More

It was not worth going there, the temple is not interesting, at least I do not like this modern shiny kitsch style, but people go mainly for the view, but if it is a hazy day you won't see much.

Either you can start at the bottom and work your way up or have your vehicle park at the top and walk down. Kinda hot during the day better go there during cooler months and spend time to see the sunset. Crowded during tourist season.

It's a great view from the top, but quite a walk up there. The view is worth it though! It wasn't too crowded when we went (low season) with just a spattering of tourists and a handful of monks to chat to. All good fun...More

We had been on a day trip to Pyin oo Lwin but managed to get here in time for sunset. It was not spectacular, but I think that this is due to the cloudy sky. There were lots of young people there greeting us and...More

We took a coach to arrive at hill foot. Then transfer by 3 loads of trucks to climb the hill. A noisy engine plus snake track would caused giddiness. Unhealthy tourists must avoid to travel trucks. On arrival , you walk through the very dirty...More

Mandalay Hill is worth to visit. You'll have a view over the city and all the pagodas and there are a lot of monks upstairs. You have to pay 1000 kyat/person as a tourist.

The view from here is impressive and gives one a good perspective of the city. It was cool too, which was nice!

The main attraction here is the sunset over Irrawady. It is really not that great either. It is far too crowded and exit the compound once the sun sets can be quite nightmarish.

A lot. Good hike. Can be very hot and very crowded. Plan accordingly. We climbed in the morning to avoid crowds and heat...but missed sunset views. 😄
