Mandalay's best known religious sites are all worth visiting but spare some time for little ones in any neighborhood and you're very likely to be rewarded with unexpected ,more authentic scenes and exchanges with locals. Though I can't remember any names, I have vivid memories of such encounters -a simple temple by a lake with buffalos, kids learning to read... More

Many people are warmly welcome and kindly to other people. Food and Place are very interesting. I have to go Mandalay Hill (famous) and Myakanot Hill(some of the people know). Myakanot Hill located in East Aung Myay Tharzan Township to PateinGyi Township. This Top of the Hill many villages living and panoramic view of the Mandalay.

Was awesome to learn of the history of the religious sites. Many sites to visit. Enjoyed learning about the reason for the different temples.

The Buddha plays a huge part in Myanmar life but don't miss the Anglican churches and the mosque too.

We were a little disappointed by the dirty and dusty roads of Mandalay, which really are not very appealing. But many religious sites in and around Mandalay make it worthwhile to stay there a couple of days. We spent 4 days visiting many of these sites, with a private car with English speaking guide and driver, booked thru Insight Travel,... More

The marble temple is in Yangoon. They found marble in Rakhine and craved part of it then seat to Yangoon. They keep the buddha statue in aircon because it will crack when its too hot.

We love the views to the escalator to the top but overall each site the guide chose was well worth the effort. And we enjoyed Mandalay .

The Jade Pagoda was the most striking of all pagodas we visited in Mandalay. It is completely built from jade and features inlays of carved idols, figures of buddha and various colours and qualities of jade. Absolutely stunning complex. Unfortunately the hockers have taken roost at the base of this pagoda and you have to weave in and out of... More

Out in the country from Mandalay we visited the old Imperial Capital of Ava, 14th to 19th century, now known as Inwa. Not too much remains except the brick and stone gates and evident moats. One impressive wooden structure is the 19th century Bagayar Monastery, substantially rebuilt with huge teak columns. Watch out for nails in the floor that have... More
