The must do/ visit sites and highlights of the Mandalay trip includes the Mahamuni Temple, the Golden Palace, the Mingun temples/bell, the Kuthodaw ( big book) pagoda and the amazing Jade Pagoda. The other interesting sites including the golden dome / egg shaped pagoda ( Kaunghmu DWA) and the Mandalay palace are also worth visiting, if time permits. Visiting Mandalay's... More

We have spent two days in Mandalay and its environs on our brief tour of Myanmar. This gas been with a driver and guide and although I have not previously been a fan and have tended to DIY my tours I think that it has been very useful indeed and really allowed us to use our time well. Apart from... More

Mandalay is definitely worth a visit. After Bagan I was wondering if it was worth my while. The attractions I liked best were 1. Mighun trip 2. Monastery at Amarapura 3. Mahamuni temple 4. Golden palace monastery 5. Kuthodaw pagoda This will take you about two days to cover

Mandalay has a negative rep due to being busy, lacking original buildings due to WW2 bombings, being dusty and overpriced. It is all true but still, there are several sights worth the visit and shouldn't be missed. Now, the Mandalay palace is not one if them but many temples and other sights are.

I suggest hiring a driver so you can really make it to all the main religious sites and temples, as the transit in Mandalay does not allow you to move around well enough to make it to them all in a day or two. The sunset at the hill is very much worth it, we started at the lower temples... More

Ensure you use a good tour company as there are so many sites to see you need to get guidance if you have limited time

Mandalay's best known religious sites are all worth visiting but spare some time for little ones in any neighborhood and you're very likely to be rewarded with unexpected ,more authentic scenes and exchanges with locals. Though I can't remember any names, I have vivid memories of such encounters -a simple temple by a lake with buffalos, kids learning to read... More

Many people are warmly welcome and kindly to other people. Food and Place are very interesting. I have to go Mandalay Hill (famous) and Myakanot Hill(some of the people know). Myakanot Hill located in East Aung Myay Tharzan Township to PateinGyi Township. This Top of the Hill many villages living and panoramic view of the Mandalay.

Was awesome to learn of the history of the religious sites. Many sites to visit. Enjoyed learning about the reason for the different temples.

The Buddha plays a huge part in Myanmar life but don't miss the Anglican churches and the mosque too.
