About
Orange Robe Tours is a profit-for-purpose social enterprise, based in Luang Prabang, Laos. We employ former Novices and Monks who have recently left the temple to lead culturally appropriate tours. This provides much-needed support during the transition from temple life to layperson life for our guides, and helps in the overall preservation of the traditional culture and customs of Laos.

We had a lovely and fulfilling couple of hours with our guide, Si. He was a wonderful guide and teacher about Lao Buddhist culture and beliefs, Buddhism in general as well as the significance of the temples and monasteries. The tour at Wat Pa Phai was supposed to be for 1 hour but Si, who speaks good English, was patient and eager to carefully answer all our questions about Buddhism, temples, monk life and Laos in general. We learnt more about Buddhism in 2 hours with Si than we did ever before. Thank you so much to Si and the team at Orange Robe Tours for continuing to provide such quality experiences, we enjoyed it very much.

A really amazing way to open your eyes to the world of buddhism and monk lifestyle. Si was very informative and easy to talk to. Answered all of our questions we had. We also did the meditation portion which was a great experience as well. I think everyone who comes to Laos should add this to their itinerary.

Amazing informational tour! My guide was very patient with our questions and I learned a lot about Buddhism and how it compares to other religions. It made me appreciate things more in Luang Prabang!

I couldnt recommend it more! i did the tour with Tay and it was incredible. learned so much about budhism and life as a monk. he anwered to all of our questions. Also did the guided meditation. This was one of the highlights of my travels and the reason why i ended up staying in Luang Prabang for 15 days.

Appreciate the experience overall but if I have to be honest it wasn't value for the money overall. Don't get me wrong, our tour guide was super nice and knowledgeable about Buddhist practices. He was open to answering questions and was patient. But the fact that it was 30 USD for 2 hours seems little too much for what I gathered from the experience.

Hi Prayas, thank you for joining our tour and for taking the time to leave us a review. Our tours are carefully priced to ensure we pay our guides a fair, dignified wage. Our prices also insure we are able to give back to the temple and local community. I hope this provides some clarity into our pricing.

The tour was great - the guide was very well informed (from experience) and was able to share some unique teachings of the Buddha.

Would highly recommend for anyone who wants the chance to listen and talk to a former novice monk about Buddhism (and anything else, i.e life in Laos, Buddhism in Laos) 😊 It was a relaxed environment at the temple and we chatted for a hour about Buddhism and we asked questions as we went along. Si was very thorough in his answers and had excellent English. I felt comfortable asking questions about Buddhism and his life as a monk. I could've talked for much longer. He had excellent English and could understand and interpret our questions and I learnt so much about Buddhism.

We then went inside the temple with Si explaining main areas and talked to us about different types of meditation, before practising with/alongside him. The temple was just for us so no one was watching us or with us, apart from our group, which I liked.

We explored sitting, standing and walking meditation. He was excellent teacher and made us feel comfortable. He asked us how many minutes etc, so no pressure and you could stop if you wanted too.

If you are into Buddhism, spirituality in Asia then I'd recommended this really enriching, authentic experience.

We also had the joy of seeing a little puppy and it's mum at the temple 😊😊
Thank you si, and orange robe tours xx

One of the most profound experiences ever. To get to know a culture from
This point of view is just amazing. And then as a non profit organization - for us a must do when in Kuang Prabang. The meditation afterwards really changed us. We loved the whole experience!
