I signed up for the full day cooking class and being a solo traveller was looking forward to a day with fellow cooks. Sadly it was not to be and I was the only one there. On the plus side I got one to one tuition. The day started with a trip to a local market to purchase fresh herbs... More

Let's start with the good: Everyone really made their dishes which both helped me learn to cook them, and let me halve the crazy amounts of salt and sugar used in all dishes throughout Asia. We got cookbooks which had lots of informative bits about Laos culture with all the recipes and great ideas for replacing ingredients you don't have... More

Do you want to have an interesting and relaxed evening while learning good knowlede about the laos kitchen? Also laugh and have fun while cooking your delicous meal? Yes? Then just avoid going anywhere close this place! We were really suprised, that 2.5 hours for 20$ can end in 1 hour of class in total, plus 20 minutes of fast... More

We did a day cooking course couple weeks ago. The local market visit was enjoyable, but too fast and not too informative. As soon as we get back, chefs demonstrated the dishes reasonably. After that, there was no interaction while we're cooking. Chefs seemed to be really bored. Other people asked questions and the answers were super dry. Honestly, I... More

I did the evening class as there is so much to do in laos and I have so little time! Really great fun. Good class. The two chefs are great. They first demonstrated four dishes- you then taste them and decide which dish you want to cook. You work in pairs- two people per station. You both cook one dish... More

I enrolled for the Tamnak Lao Cooking School about 5 days before the time I wanted to attend, and was the only one enrolled. However by the day I had 4 other companions from the UK and France. (I am Australian) The class began at 10am with a trip to the Pho Sy Markets, the largest in Luang Prabang and... More

This was a good introduction to Lao cuisine. We did the day course and enjoyed the market visit. The day is very structured and each dish is demonstrated and then you cook it at your bench station. On this they delivered. And the recipe book you take home is well put together and informative. Some other courses I have done... More

We really enjoyed this. A Lao chef prepared four different dishes in front of us, and then we got to pick two to cook for ourselves for dinner. We came back home prepared to make some of these dishes for ourselves, and found that some of the ingredients are simply not available at our local markets, so we wish that... More

I'm not really sure what I thought of this cooking school. What made it for me was the people who were also participating. Such a friendly bunch. We've done a fair few cooking classes in Asia and I can't say it was the best. We went to the Phousi Market by truck. Got shown around and got a very brief... More

The day started off with a visit to the morning market. I enjoy this part if the day since it brings me to a place locals shop at, a place filled with smells, sights, and items I'm not familiar with. We, the student chefs, don't buy anything while there, we are accompanied by one Chef who takes us on a... More
