The Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre is where the fascinating world of Lao textiles comes alive! Set in the grounds of a stunning tropical garden on the Mekong, it's the perfect place to learn more about this unique Lao art. We offer free guided tours where you can meet our weavers, artisans and even the silkworms. We also offer a range of classes in weaving and dyeing, which as our reviews show, are an unforgettable experience. Our Silk Road Cafe by the river is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our "east meets west" inspired menu, or simply enjoy the stellar sunsets with a refreshing drink.

With modernisation, family structures are changing, and the art of dyeing and weaving peculiar to each village is being lost. The centre aims to keep the art going, and acts as an exhibition space, workshop and shop, with an excellent restaurant/cafe attached. The centre runs courses, from s few hours to days, to introduce visitors to the complexities of dyeing... More

If you are in Luang Prabang, this is a must visit. It's a bit of a drive by bike but they have a good bar and restaurant so don't hesitate to go there. They have a wonderful shop where you can buy nice beautiful souvenirs. They explain you the whole weaving process. From caterpillar to tablecloth. You can do art... More

We walked to this weaving centre (about 30 minutes from Luang Prabang, but there are not always pavements so a Tuk Tuk may be preferable. It is quite difficult to find from the main road, so look carefully for the signs. We arrived in a downpour and so spent a leisurely hour in the café/restaurant which overlooks the river, with... We had a blast dying our own scarves - from picking & mashing the leaves to hanging them on a line to dry. The helpful and fun staff were informative about the dying and weaving processes so we were able to better appreciate the lovely products on sale at the store.

We were a little underwhelmed by LPB - finding it busy and noisy and overrun with tourist mini buses - luckily we stumbled on this oasis of tranquility and peace. Lovely tour of the facilities and work, beautiful products in the shop and a lovely lunch later we felt better about staying in this tourist town

We did a half-day natural dye class. It was a great learning experience to take our own "ingredients" from the soil, boil them, tie the silk scarves and soak them in the colors. Though the scarves aren't super pretty, I'm glad to have joined and learnt something new.

A wonderful handicraft centre located on the bank of the Mekong river complete with bar, restaurant, guesthouse, school and shop. The master weavers on site produce stunting pieces. You understand the complexity of the art and get a much better understanding of the spirit and values behind each piece. The food is great. The view over the Mekong is beautiful.... More

This is a great place to visit. The organisation is supporting lots of local people and helping maintain and develop the traditional crafts. They put on a good, informative tour and seeing the work in action is very interesting. The added bonus is a lovely cafe overlooking the river, it is really a lovely place to relax. The goods in... We took a free tuk tuk ride from the Ock Pop Tok in the town centre. There was a free guided tour available by a friendly guy who spoke good English. At the end of the tour, you could visit the shop for original and high quality Lao products. The guide did not ask for tip and I was happy... More

We had about half an hour of guided tour to learn about the weaving culture, dyeing process and history of this place. It is located in a idyllic beautiful garden setting beside the Mekong River. We also had a delicious dinner at their café. Especially enjoyed the pumpkin soup and vegetarian couscous with mushrooms. Best of all, we watched a... More
