Has a good little section on Lao history which is most instructional. Buy a book for the Book Boat and say Hello to Mr Sangdao.

Reading some of the reviews in the past 10 or 15, it's pretty clear that a few people don't understand the significance of this place or even 'get it' in any semblance of a way. This place isn't a place to get the latest Cleo mag or update your Lonely Planet from the 2015 to the 2016 version, it's a... More

Most Laotian children do not have access to books especially those outside the main towns. Having simple things like books, writing utensils, stationary is really a luxury for most of these outlying areas. While I was there, I observed volunteers teaching spoken and written languages to children. It was a good feeling to see how many of the visitors to... More

A visit to this library was a fun and learning experience for all. It has both local and other language books. It also has kids toys. It operates the Lao Children's Library Boats, the only two in Laos. It gives book bags of hundreds of books to many villages.

You can contribute by buying some books for 20k Kip and put it in the folder case which will be donated to the Laos rural children. You can also donate uniform for 1 child at only USD5 for primary student.

Husband and I knew about the work of this library to assist the poor children of Laos with education. Books are rare or non-existent in remote villages. When you see the poverty for yourself, you will understand. Poverty and a hand to mouth existence leaves little room for luxuries like books. Everyone can help because even a very small donation... The library is very small and does not have very much of a collection. They could use more books in their library.

I believe people there are doing a great job, however the way they call for help made me feel uncomfortable and excluded. Right in front of the office is the comparison between Laos and other (rich) countries, saying that GDP of Laos is 800 usd per capita which is only 1-2% of developed countries. A bit doutful about the numbers... More
