We came across this whilst we we out walking. It’s not an easy place to visit but well worth spending half an hour reading the stories and the continued problems the country is suffering from. All credit to those who are trying to make a difference through education and bomb clearance

Two rooms in the ongoing district operations center. Both my children, who are usually quickly bored with museums, and actually sat down in the floor by the defused ordnance and asked me questions for half an hour and actually read the poster boards. This appears to have made some impact on them, a little more than the photos of the good and the great politicans smiling as they pose in the Center then go out and unlease more long lasting misery on civilians in the name of Freedom.

Very great idea, because the free offer gives everyone the opportunity to learn about UXO (unexploded bombs). You learn about the consequences of war and the dangers still present in this country! Anyone who wants to support the cause can either buy a souvenir from the bombs or donate something like this.

Easily done on your own.You can walk here or get a tuk tuk for approx 25000 from the centre town ( use budding skills). it’s a small museum setting out the sad effects the bombs have left on this country, with lots of old bombs in show and a shirt documentary.it doesn’t charge to get in but has a donation box so please put give something so they can clear the bombs and educate people about them.

Small but very interesting and free, you can leave a donation at the end of the visit
This museum tells the story of the bombing that Laos suffered, no one should know about it before visiting this museum, we were shocked to read all these horrible things!
I recommend 200%

It’s a slight walk out of the main town but well worth it. Entry is free and you can spend approximately 1 hour here. This one is more aimed at the process of finding and removing the UXO rather than the recovery focus in Vientiane. There are bombs and shell casings on snow, and the movie is very sad but interesting to watch. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately this museum was very disappointing to visit and I'm surprised with the high reviews. It was just a single room and even the lights were not turned on. The only thing there were some bombs and some very basic information. The similar museums in Cambodia were a lot more informative and interesting.

Most of the UXO work in Laos is sponsored by the USA so there is nothing critical being shown or said about who caused this problem. This centre here is very similar to the one (COPE) in Vientiane so there is no need to visit both, even the videos are the same. The focus here is on the danger, education and mine clearing. If you wish to visit another one that is slightly different, you should visit MAG UXO (Vientiane, Thakhek, Phonsavan).

UXO (unexploded ordinance) visit at the COPE (Cooperative Orthotic & Prosthetic Enterprise) centre in Vientiane (capital of Laos) was an eye opener. A must go. Videos available. Equally we went to the UXO in Luang Prabang - do go there also. NO entry fee, but u can buy artefacts, shirt or donate cash into a box. Very moving experience.

This small museum is free to visit and raises your understanding of the UXO siuation faced by the Laotian people. There are some very emotional videos showing how UXO victims became injured.
It shouldn't take more then an hour. Worth going, particualrly in wet weather.

Hi,
My family of four will be coming to Luang Prabang in June 2016. We are interested in your slow boat tour to Thailand (but have been told that June is low season, so all boats may not run). Do we have to book far in advance, or is it okay to book just a few days out? Our agenda is very flexible, so we would love to be flexible with our dates. Thanks!

Where did you read that would offer boat tours?
