We booked our cruise from Huay Xay to Luang Prabang and we would recommend it to everyone who want to enjoy this trip in a relaxed and safe way. The boat is very clean and comfortable, the food was delicious throughout both journeys (Huay Xai to Pakbeng and Pakbeng to Luang Prabang) and most importantly we always felt safe regarding... More

We travelled with Shompoo upstream (two days) on our way to Thailand. We enjoyed relaxing and taking in the views along the way and also chatting with fellow passengers. Our boat was very spacious with plenty of room to spread out. The food was amazing and possibly the best we had in Laos. Our guide was lovely and very informative.... More

Our photography group booked the Shampoo Cruise. The two days were wonderful with so much to see. The guide was extremely informative and very helpful. It was idyllic with the space on the boat, the seating area, and the wonderful food. The peanuts, corn etc growing on the sandbanks were interesting as were the buffalo and elephants. The boating activity... More

My wife and I recently visited southeast Asia for 5 weeks, traveling to Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, and this was in our top three experiences from the entire trip! The open-air boat is very simple but comfortable. The crew/owners of the boat were a lovely family who did everything from drive the boat to work the bar to cook the... More

I agree with the other reviews that Shompoo Cruise offer a great all around experience. We traveled with the company 6th and 7th April. The boat was immaculate and very comfortable. Wong, the guide, was knowledgeable and spoke good English. Catering on board was plentiful and delicious. We had total confidence in the crew that operated the boat. There were... More

The service we got here was superb. We were met at the laos border at Huay Xai and got a tuk-tuk to the boat. We were the only ones on board so we had the whole boat to ourselves, apart from the guide and the family who owned the boat. Guide gave his initial spiel then at various times, gave... More

We took this cruise upstream and the boat exceeded our expectations. Lots of space, great service and delicious home made food served on board. Particularly enjoyed the stop off to visit the local hill tribe who are sponsored by this company. Overnight stay at the Mekong river lodge was lovely too overlooking the Mekong river, so couldn't really go wrong... More

We really enjoyed our Shompoo cruise experience. The whole process was effortless from booking, getting to the border, assistance with visas and transfer to the boat dock and taking off. The boat was well captained, managed and maintained. The staff was friendly and at the ready for any of our needs. The food was fantastic and the views could not... More

This cruise was magic and the staff are just amazing. If you have the time and don't want to sit on one of the over crowded boats take this. Also, the rumours are true, the food really is good! Tip. They have charging points if you run out of battery on your camera from all the photos, dont worry.

We travelled from Xuay Xai to Pakbeng.(whole day) Comfortable boat, excellent guide. delicious lunch cooked and served on the boat. Beer very cheap. Stopped and visited a Kamu minority village - wonderful experience. The following day the boat continued to Luang Prabang but we did not do that leg. Views of all the like on the banks of the mekong
