As many others comment, it's worth the walk up for the lovely city views and it is nice to go up at sunset. Our highlight were the lovely locals wanting to practise their English who come and chat to you.

I now better appreciate the advice to visit either early or late in the day. My buddy and I climbed those endless steps at 11 a.m. on a sunny day with 37C temps. It was tough going. The good news was that the top was...More

For 20 000 kip per person, this is not worth it. I think my boyfriend and I spent all of 30 minutes here. The view is average, and the temples aren't that exciting. I would recommend spending money on the national museum or other temples...More

We enjoyed watching the sunset from above Luang Prabang, but the ambience was slightly spoiled by the masses of tourists. Still worth a visit but quieter sunset spots by the river aren't a bad bet either.

Mt. Phousi is right off the main road (Sisavangvong) and a somewhat steep but short hike up. The hill gives you a great view over the Mekong River which is particularly beautiful at sunset. Unfortunately, every other tourist in LP has the same idea so...More
