About
Less than an hour away from Luang Prabang, Kuang Si Falls is known for its milky turquoise waters. There are multiple pools scattered throughout the area; the main pool has rope swings, and an overhanging tree limb from which you can jump into the water. There's also lookout point just a short hike away, which offers panoramic views of Lao’s countryside. The falls are easily accessible and are beautiful throughout the day but visit early for fewer crowds. There are changing facilities, and several eateries in the area where you can relax and take in the views. – Tripadvisor

A great day out in Luang Prabang
It's as beautiful as the pictures, really stunning. My hostel arranged transport in a minibus which cost 80,000 lak the tuk tuk and drivers in the streets ask much more. You can go by scooter but the roads are terrible and a good part of that road is a dirt track so take a mask. With your own transport you can go early and miss the crowds but the water is cold and most of the area is in the shade of the trees so if you want to swim you may want to consider going when the sun is high. It's definitely worth the trip.

    Beautiful place
I joined a shared minivan for the 1 hour trip to Kuang Si waterfall (round trip cost $6). We were dropped off at 13:00 and had 2.5 hours to explore the falls which was just right. The cascades and pools across various levels are truly beautiful, but this does attract rather a lot of tourists all seeking photos. I decided to climb to the top of the falls, which was a pretty steep and tough climb, and the view from the top is far less impressive than from below - but with far fewer people. The descent was also very slippery so good footwear is advisable.

One of the beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen!
If you want to see the inspiration for “Avatar” this might be it! Yo7 will get great pics and make everyone you know jealous. About an hour away from downtown LP, this is a beautifully maintained national park. In the lower falls you can even swim. And don’t forget to see the Bear Rescue Center - I almost missed it - near the beginning of the walk to the falls.

    Natural beauty
Kuang Si Falls near Luang Prabang is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Laos, and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to the region. This stunning series of cascading waterfalls and turquoise pools is set in a picturesque jungle landscape, and offers visitors an unforgettable experience of natural beauty and tranquility. The falls are easily accessible from Luang Prabang, with a short drive followed by a short hike through the jungle to reach the main falls. Along the way, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape, and spot wildlife such as butterflies and birds. The main falls themselves are truly breathtaking, with crystal-clear water cascading over a series of limestone tiers into a series of turquoise pools below. Visitors can swim in the pools, relax on the surrounding rocks, or take a refreshing dip in the cool water. Beyond the main falls, the area surrounding Kuang Si Falls offers a wealth of natural beauty to explore. Visitors can hike through the jungle to discover hidden waterfalls and caves, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The falls are also home to a rescue center for Asian black bears, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures and their conservation. The center is dedicated to rescuing bears from the illegal wildlife trade and rehabilitating them for release back into the wild. Overall, Kuang Si Falls near Luang Prabang is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Laos. With its stunning natural beauty, tranquil surroundings, and unique wildlife conservation efforts, the falls offer a truly unforgettable experience of the natural wonders of Southeast Asia.

Beautiful waterfall where you can swim
Best way to reach this place is by scooter from Luang Prabang. The roads are ok to drive on, just take it easy. Entrance is 25,000 I think, and you take the free electric car shuttle to the waterfalls. Recommend getting here super early as all the tour buses start arriving from after 10:00 / 10:30 onwards, and it gets super busy around 11:30. We got there around 8:30, maybe just before, and it was pretty quiet but there were still people there. There are three areas to swim in, with the lowest area being the nicest. We went for a swim and in March time it was a great temperature. You can take some great photos here too. Would absolutely recommend!

Beautiful Natural Attraction Near Luang Prabang
Most visitors to Luang Prabang concentrate on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the city proper and they are definitely the main reason to visit Luang Prabang. However, Kuang Si Falls not far out of town should not be missed. It is composed of a series of short terrace falls before reaching the main drop of about 200 feet. The colour of the water in the terrace pools is exquisite and several of them allow swimming. There are many ways to get to the parking lot and from there free golf carts take you close to the bottom of the first falls. A bonus is seeing moon bears which have been rescued and live just below the falls.

    Definitely worth a visit.
Took the scooter from the town taking about 45mins nice and slowly. 2000kip to park scooter, can't remember price to get in but wasn't a fortune. Electric buggy to the entrance(butterfly park was closed because it was a Thursday). Saw some bears in a enclosure. Walked up the trail along side the falls. You can swim in some of the pools which is great on a hot day. The main Waterfall is very picturesque even at the end of the dry season. Would i recommend? Yes definitely.

    Natural beauty at its best
These falls are definitely worth the drive. Unlike the lagoons of Vang Vieng these are in their natural state and stunning. We walked around the top which is a bit precarious in places but worth the views. At the end we ate some Delicious oil seed starting with M …. Wish I had bought a big bag of them as they are a delicious snack it was also fantastic to see the rescue bears being treated so well. A cause worth supporting!

    Must do
The beauty of this place will be your reason to go there. Grab your bikini, towel and water shoes for this experience. The water was very cold for me, but i did an effort to swim. And some places were very slippery, that is why you need water shoes. Crowd is a part of scenery.

7/10 for the day out. Tuk Tuk ride a little hard on the bum but good to see the falls
Picturesque waterfall, bit of a climb to the very top and worth it only to say you did it. Lower falls look good, pools OK for swimming in although not crystal clear waters due to the number of tourists in them. That's probably the worst thing, just too many people, but it's an accessible site so it's to be expected. 7/10

Fabulous series of spectacular waterfalls, spoilt only by the numbers of tourists.
There is also a sanctuary for rescued moon bears.

This is a really beautiful waterfall. You pay for your tickets near the parking lot. Then you get on an electric cart that takes you further up the mountain for about five minutes. Then we walked up hill for about 1 kilometre to see the top falls. They are spectacular. The water in the pool below is a light turquoise. Once you have enjoyed that experience you can choose to climb higher or walk down to the lower falls. We opted for that. Once you get to the lower falls there is a large pool with slippery wooden steps into it. Make sure to go for a swim. The water is a little brisk but I found it refreshing.

So beautiful! - Visit the nearby Butterfly Sanctuary afterwards! The natural surroundings of the falls goes on and on - there are cafes inside the park and plenty of shade. Bring your swimsuit, but please respect local customs and leave your thong in your hotel room

So beautiful-nature at its best! Tiers and tiers of the beautiful green waters and it was enjoyable watching the people swim! We really loved being educated about the rescued “Bile Bears” from China-Sun and Moon bears…they were having fun with their tire swings and we loved watching them FINALLY enjoying life after living in the small cage! Thank goodness for people who want to help animals…a super worthwhile day!

it's a lovely place to visit but don't expect amazing waterfalls... it is very nice but if you have traveled the world you have seen many more spectacular falls. we went on the mini bus from our hotel which only cost $5 per person but didn't leave until 11:30. this means we got there in the afternoon and it was packed. definitely go earlier if you can get your own transportation. saw a few bears as an added bonus. the butterfly park was ok but not worth the $5 to get in.

This waterfall is so amazing with its surrounding pools and jungle. The water was blue the whole place was breathtaking. The bear sanctuary was also fascinating. I would highly recommend you visit this beautiful place.

I’ve read a lot of reviews about how busy this place is. The answer is to get here before 9am. (It opens at 8) I arrived at 8.45 and there were probably about a dozen other tourists there. Prices have gone up, 5,000 kip to park a motorbike and 25,000 to enter but totally worth it. The first falls are pretty but they leave the best until last! I’m not sure the steep uphill walk to the top is worth it as you can’t get particularly close to the edge of the falls. Also bear in mind that if you want to see the bears, they aren’t given access to their enclosures before 9
As I was leaving so the tour groups were arriving and I must have past about 50 minivans heading to the falls on my way back to LP.

The falls are genuinely as beautiful and blue as they look in the pictures. We organised a private driver to take us to the falls and wait for us for around 4h so that we could enjoy them at our own pace, rather than be part of a big tour group. We got there around 10:30am and didn't feel like it was too crowded. We walked and then hiked up to the top of the falls (which was a bit tricky on the final bit up to the top, as the easier path up was closed for renovations so we had to take the dirt path on the right). Though it was a tricky climb up, we really enjoyed the pool and space at the top of the falls and did a bare foot slow climb down on the way back ready for another dip in one of the lower pools on our way back.

What can I say? Just awesome. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. If you want an exercise you can trekk up to the spring where there will be no crowds and see the source of the waterfall.

The waterfalls are really spectacular. We drove there on a scooter witch was really scenic, however the roads have loads of pot holes so you need to be vigilant as it's quite dangerous. If you take your time and enjoy the journey it's a great experience.
It gets very busy though so don't expect it to be peaceful 🤪. Lots of amateur photo shoots taking place everywhere 🤣
